Some replies to Cat-haters arguments (part 01)
One of my favourite characters in A Song of Ice and Fire is Catelyn Tully.
I do cosplay her too, gh.
Sadly, I found out that her fans are few and Cat-haters are so much more. That wouldn’t be a problem, if their hate-reasons were … well, real reasons But instead of saying “I just don’t like her” (wich would be a GREAT reason, to me), they assault poor Cat with some really inconsistent arguments. Below, I’ll list the ones I came to hear more often.
She’s the cause of EVERYTHING! Since she kidnapped Tyrion, everything went wrong!
There’s just one thing that’s wrong: your argument. Catelyn captured Tyrion, ok. It was wreckless and stupid, ok. But that’s not the beginning of “EVERYTHING”. When she did it, Robert Baratheon was still the king, and he told Ned: “Hey my friend, your wife is being silly. Tell her to be not and I ain’t complain. I don’t want the war beacuse it’s expensive and I need to go piss. Ok? Ahr ahr.” So it comes to evidence that, if Robert Baratheon wasn’t murdered, nothing bad - well not that bad - would have happened. Just some little war-thing between Starks and Lannisters. That’s all.
She’s so mean to my poor Jon (Snow)!
This is the one I hate the most. Teel me how you’ll feel when your husband pops out at home with another child and tells you “Hey, this is my son! Not yours, just mine. Take care of him.” Tell me. If you’ll love both your husband and the child without any problem, I will shake your hand with sincerely admiration.
Oh well. Whatever, I don’t even know where to start to reply to this one. I guess that being an honorable person is just like being stupid, in Westeros. We’ve seen many examples of “stupid people” ending in awful ways, so far. Yes my dear Ned, I’m talking about you too </3 sigh.
[part 02 coming soon]
before it gets too frightening
we ought to call a halt
so could we start again please?
